About This Package

Embark on the ultimate African adventure with our 7-Day Lemosho Route Trek, widely regarded as the most scenic and success-rate-friendly trail up Mount Kilimanjaro. Approaching the roof of Africa from the remote western side, this route offers unmatched panoramic views, pristine rainforests, and an optimal altitude acclimatization profile to ensure you reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m) safely and comfortably.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp

Elevation: 2,100m to 2,650m | Distance: 6 km | Hiking Time: 3–4 hours

Highlights: After registration at Londorossi Gate, take a short drive to the trail head at Lemosho Glades. Walk through undisturbed, lush rainforest filled with exotic wildlife and vibrant bird species before settling into Big Tree Camp.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Elevation: 2,650m to 3,850m | Distance: 8 km | Hiking Time: 5–6 hours

Highlights: Trek out of the rainforest canopy and cross the vast, breathtaking Shira Plateau. As the landscape shifts to heather moorland, enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo Peak in the distance.

Elevation: 3,850m to 4,630m (Lava Tower) to 3,900m (Barranco) | Distance: 10 km | Hiking Time: 6–7 hours

Highlights: A critical day for the "climb high, sleep low" acclimatization technique. Ascend to the massive Lava Tower for lunch before dropping down into the majestic Barranco Valley.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Elevation: 3,900m to 3,960m | Distance: 5 km | Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (Summit Base)

Elevation: 3,960m to 4,670m | Distance: 4 km | Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Highlights: Hike through a desolate alpine landscape as you approach Barafu Camp. Settle in early, feast on a nutrient-rich dinner, and rest up for your final midnight summit push.

Day 6: Summit Day! Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Elevation: 4,670m to 5,895m (Summit) to 3,100m (Mweka) | Distance: 11 km up / 12 km down | Hiking Time: 11–14 hours total

Highlights: Begin your night ascent by headlamp to Stella Point on the crater rim. Reach Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa—just as the sun rises over the clouds. Descend to Barafu for rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (Moshi/Arusha)

Elevation: 3,100m to 1,640m | Distance: 10 km | Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
