Day 1: Machame Gate (1,800m) to Machame Camp (2,835m)

Hiking Time: 5–7 hours | Distance: 11 km | Habitat: Rainforest

Highlights: After registration at Machame Gate, begin your journey through the dense, magnificent rainforest. Keep an eye out for Colobus monkeys and exotic birds before arriving at Machame Camp for your first night on the mountain.

Day 2: Machame Camp (2,835m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)

Hiking Time: 4–6 hours | Distance: 5 km | Habitat: Moorland

Highlights: Leave the forest canopy behind and cross a steep ridge into the open, heather-covered moorland. Enjoy striking views of Kibo Peak and the vast Shira Plateau as you reach Shira 2 Camp.

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp (3,850m) to Lava Tower (4,630m) down to Barranco Camp (3,960m)
