Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Elevation: 1,800m to 2,835m | Distance: 11 km | Hiking Time: 5–7 hours
Highlights: After registration at Machame Gate, begin your trek through the dense, enchanted rainforest. Keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys and exotic flora. Arrive at Machame Camp nestled at the edge of the forest canopy.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Elevation: 2,835m to 3,850m | Distance: 5 km | Hiking Time: 4–6 hours
Highlights: Leave the rainforest behind and climb steep ridges across open moorland. Cross the expansive Shira Plateau and enjoy stunning views of the Western Breach and Kibo Glaciers as you settle into Shira 2 Camp.
Day 3: Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (Summit Base)
Elevation: 3,960m to 4,670m | Distance: 4 km | Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Highlights: Ascend through a desolate, otherworldly alpine desert landscape until you reach Barafu Camp. Enjoy early dinner, prep your gear, and rest before your midnight trek to the summit.
Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (Summit Day!) to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 4,670m to 5,895m (Summit) down to 3,100m | Distance: 16 km total | Hiking Time: 11–15 hours
Highlights: Begin your night ascent by headlamp up steep scree slopes toward Stella Point (5,756m). Watch the sunrise over Africa as you reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m). After brief celebrations, descend back to Barafu for lunch and further down to Mweka Camp.
Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (Moshi/Arusha)
Elevation: 3,100m to 1,640m | Distance: 10 km | Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Highlights: Complete your final descent through the lush cloud forest to Mweka Gate. Receive your official summit certificates, celebrate with your mountain guides and porters, and take a transfer back to your hotel.
